Caledonian Birch Therapy provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Therapy, delivered primarily online with flexible scheduling and accessible pricing.
The name Caledonian Birch reflects both professional and personal values.
The birch tree is often associated with growth, adaptability, and renewal—qualities that closely align with the aims of CBT. In therapy, meaningful change often involves revisiting core beliefs and earlier experiences—returning to the “roots”—to support healthier patterns of thinking and behaviour.
Caledonian acknowledges my education and clinical practice in Scotland, as well as my professional and personal connection to this place.

Services
Online sessions are offered as standard. In-person sessions may be available by arrangement, subject to availability and different terms.

One off Consultation
A one-off consultation offers a focused 90-minute session to explore a specific issue, gain clarity, and reflect on next steps. It can be helpful if you need one-time support, have limited time, or are taking a first step toward therapy.
CBT Sessions
CBT is a structured, evidence-based therapy offered in time-limited blocks of sessions, with clear goals agreed at the start. Sessions are collaborative and focused, with tools you can use between sessions to support lasting change.
Counselling offers a confidential space to explore thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Sessions are open-ended, with no fixed number, allowing time for reflection, understanding, and ongoing support.
About
My name is Alexa Young
I specialise in CBT, which focuses on practical strategies for managing thoughts and behaviours, and I am also trained in the person-centred approach, meaning therapy is guided by your needs, at your pace, in a safe and supportive environment. I hold an MA in Psychology, providing a strong understanding of psychological processes that supports thoughtful, evidence-based therapy. For more information, please click the button below.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is one of the most researched forms of psychotherapy, meaning its approaches are supported by extensive scientific evidence. It has been shown to be effective for many mental health conditions as well as other difficulties and life challenges (see the list below).
CBT is based on the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviours are closely connected. How we think about a situation influences how we feel and how we behave, and in turn our behaviours can reinforce certain patterns of thinking and feeling.
CBT focuses on identifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours and finding more balanced, helpful ways of responding.
